Z-VIEW: The team was found to be in violation of regulations 4-1.1 Engine Eligibility (components and performance levels that must be strictly adhered to). However, there were neither illegal parts, nor was displacement too large, the BMW V-8 was simply too good. Parity gone mad.

Z-VIEW: In the wake of July 4 race, talk has it the series' will not return to the historic venue. CEO Bernard wants higher sanctioning fees and wants the track to do more local/regional marketing. Crowd was ok, but could be much better.

Z-VIEW: TNT ratings for the broadcast increased by 16% and NASCAR.COM, operated under license by TNT, also experienced increases for the weekend. Dale Jr.'s Nationwide win contributed to the website's viewership boost. Whatever the reason increases are good, now if only ratings can stabilize.

Z-VIEW: Admission Rev. down from $91.5mm to $74.2mm, primarily NASCAR weekends at Daytona (Feb.) Auto Club, Martinsville, Phoenix, Talladega, Richmond, Darlington. Amazing it took ISC management mid-year to recalculate assumptions downward. Jeez, stick your heads out the window, read newspapers. They don't get it.

Z-VIEW: Mere days after NASCAR announced it had finalized its new licensing trust, MA has a plan; sell the 'merch' rather than license it. Now it seems, ISC/NASCAR have a pure monopoly, controlling all merch deals and the selling of same. What a joke.
