Boston, MA (September 22, 2008) - The only worldwide search engine dedicated exclusively to professional and amateur racers, teams and parts-sourcing people (those involved in the high-performance racing industry) officially launched today.
"Yabutz is a website to find whatever racers need, whenever they need it, regardless of the series or vehicle type they race - four wheels or two. Stock cars, open wheel, karts, midgets, drifting, motorcycles - the Yabutz index includes them all," explains Mary Holway, Senior Director of Yabutz Indexing technology. According to Holway, the racing search engine was developed because Google and other such search engines provide information overload, often forcing users to spend hours sorting through irrelevant pages. "Yabutz was nearly a year in the making," stated Holway, "We deployed standard crawling technology (bots to scan websites) to search the entire web, yes, worldwide. We had to first isolate only those companies that supply the racing industry, then had to 'sift' the bot returns to determine which algorithms or keywords could be best used to refine the results to a useable form suitable for end-users.... We couldn't end up with a typical web search index - it had to be very specific to the racing community, which included those companies supply parts and services to many different series. F1, Indy, stock cars and the various motorcycle series all had to be represented." "Given the state of many websites building Yabutz was a technology challenge to say the least - but accomplishable nonetheless after almost a year under development," Holway added. The Yabutz index has isolated nearly 3,000 companies from around the world that supply the racing industry, but the company's crawlers continue to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in an ongoing effort to build the best resource tool for the motorsports racing industry.
